Since a child I have been flipping rocks in search of critters that slither. Found this site and decided to post a few articles on the subject. My mother was very forgiving of the occasional missing serpent in the house. As time went on I transformed from a hobby herper to a breeder. I have learned a lot along the way and love to share my knowledge with others. As for the title of the post I would like to explain. Many times in life I have experienced others because of their misunderstanding of snakes become snake killers. Soon as someone says snake they run for a shovel to kill it. Do you like rats and mice taking over your house ? Snakes primarily feed on rodents and help keep them in check and are a poison free control system. Some interesting facts about snakes.

I encourage you to learn to understand snakes and appreciate the wonderful creatures they are. Captive breeding of reptiles play an important role in conservation worldwide. The boa in the lower picture is a captive bred hogg island boa . These boas are from honduras and at the brink of extinction. Thanks to the hard work of breeders in the US these animals will be around for our grandchildren to see. We will be publishing other reptile related articles soon.
